I believe that imagery is powerful
and that honouring
our bodies,
emotions,
choices,
impulses
through photography
is sublimely empowering,
& profoundly encapsulaing.
I’m a self-declared dreamer
& have been infatuated with visual storytelling
since I picked up my first camera,
depicting emotions..
I have a penchant for capturing emotional escapades,
black & white bodyscapes,
& making simple moments
unforgettable.
I’m on a mission
to empower people, through my art.
No matter.....
who you are,
where you belong and
what language you speak,
....everyone at some time or the other has always said,
"I remember when........"
Here's my little snippet of....
"I remember when................." .
"I remember when I first picked up a camera and shot for an entire day.
I remember when people's face lit up with joy when they saw "prints" from that shoot.
I remember when that shoot, which was simply an exercise of enjoying a hobby, surprised me with an income, I never imagined.
I forgot the number of times I've failed, but I have never forgotten each of my successes.
Everything that was/is close to me, I've preserved them in my memory.
I never considered whether I made my memories or whether memories made up my life. (Though I've lived my life through my memories.)
I have tried keeping every moment alive. I have relived every memory. I often even speak with them like old friends, not realizing that like sand through one's fingers, memories also don't stay with you forever.
Living each moment that life offers: and may be, in that single moment, I've found life itself. (And this moment, even my memories can't snatch from me)."
Life is not lived for the sake of memories. Memories are there to be integrated into living a life.
Many beautiful souls (around 1000 of them whom I have been lucky enough to serve) have found that, "portraits" are integral part of that equation.
Personally,
1: I remember when, our walls beamed with highlight through a set of black & white portraits: one was my-4yrs-self and another: myself with my younger sister, (created in the same session in a studio), how sublimely they empowered us both with pride and self-esteem, each time we glanced at them.
2: I remember when I became a portrait artist and created a portrait for each of my 2 children aged 1 & 3yrs: not only how those 2 portraits integrated into our decor, but also how the portraits provided them, the same experience we've had when growing up. The long-term effect: while not entirely due to the portraits, I believe, they play a vital role in how personalities develop over time..
Those portraits are timeless. (Oh, yes; there are others in our lives too.)
To create portrait with timeless appeal, is the pinnacle where I always want to remain. I believe, that has tremendous value in people's lives. I've witnessed that, the value increases over time.
.....and that's the beauty of it! Sublimely empowering in more ways than one.
Did I mention that, that's the mission I am on?!
Someone aptly said: "memories fade, portraits remain."
That concludes my blurb here. (...clapping: it's optional.)
No doubt, if and when ready, we will connect again. (Hint: it's your turn to make the next move...).
Connect or not, here's wishing; you continue to experience, "time of your life".
